Peter Vernon was our Musical Director from 1993 to 2006. He was a very popular and talented musician. It was a great shock to learn that he had been killed while out cycling on 28 July 2007. If you press "Read More" you will see a copy of his obituary as published in the Burton Mail on 9 August 2007 - the day of his funeral. Also published that day was a picture of him rehearsing with 6 of our members: Meg Moore, Jo Ballington, Paul Taylor,Linda Chidley, Sybil Limbert and Jane Fisher..

Our first visit to Lingen

In 2002 we were invited by the Lingener Männerquartett to travel Lingen, the German twin town to Burton-upon-Trent, to perform a series of concerts over a weekend in August. On the Saturday morning we also sang a number of songs in the pedestrian area in the centre of Lingen. Several other choirs from around Europe were invited and we had a wonderful multinational music weekend.

Garden Concert

At The Old Hall

There has been a long tradition to hold a summer concert and garden party in a member's garden. In 2001 it was held at The Old Hall in Rolleston, home of the current treasurer, Paul Taylor. It had prevoiusly been held there back in the 1970's when the then owner Mrs Audrey Cheewright was a member.

Such events have been held at Craythorne Hall, home of our MD Joe Curtis (1980 - 1992) and Castle Hayes Park Farm among others.
